==Awards and honours== On 26 December 1883, Queen Victoria created Lister a [[baronet]], of [[Park Crescent, London|Park Crescent]] in the parish of [[St Marylebone]] in the county of [[Middlesex]].{{sfn|London Gazette, No. 25300|1883|p=6687}} In 1885, he was awarded the ''[[Pour le Mérite]]'', the highest [[Kingdom of Prussia|Prussian]] order of merit.{{sfn|Godlee|1924|p=475}} The order was restricted to 30 living Germans and as many foreigners.{{sfn|Godlee|1924|p=475}} On 8 February 1897, he was further honoured when Her Majesty raised him to the peerage as Baron Lister, of [[Lyme Regis]] in the county of [[Dorset]].{{sfn|London Gazette, No. 26821|1897|p=758}}<ref>''[[The Times]]'', Friday, 1 January 1897; Issue 35089; p. 8; col A</ref> In the [[1902 Coronation Honours]] list published on 26 June 1902 (the original day of King [[Edward VII]]'s coronation),<ref>{{Cite newspaper The Times |title=The Coronation Honours |date=26 June 1902 |page=5 |issue=36804}}</ref> Lord Lister was appointed a [[Privy Council of the United Kingdom|privy counsellor]] and one of the original members of the new [[Order of Merit]] (OM).
