Smith married [[English Canadians|English-Canadian]] actor Christopher Grove in 1990. Smith enjoys writing and painting. On June 11, 2022, Smith married one of the co-hosts of her podcast, ''Small Town Dicks'', Detective (Ret) Dan Grice.
