William Cowper translated Homer's two epic poems: "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey".<ref>{{cite wikisource|first=William|last=Cowper|title=The Iliad and Odyssey of Homer|wslink=The Iliad and Odyssey of Homer (Cowper)|year=1791|publisher=J. Johnson|publication-place=London}}</ref> His translations of these ancient Greek classics are considered significant contributions to English literature.
