Moberg struggled with severe depression in the last years of his life. He left a note to his wife saying: "The time is twenty past seven; I go to seek in the sea the eternal sleep. Forgive me, I could not endure." Moberg was buried in [[Norra begravningsplatsen]] in [[Stockholm]].
