Regionally, Valdosta is considered part of [[Southeast Georgia]], a region bordering [[Coastal Georgia]], [[South Georgia (region)|South Georgia]], and [[Southwest Georgia]].

Snowfall is rare but not unknown. Snow fell in Valdosta most recently on January 22, 2025, but the last significant snowfall happened in 1989.
