===Petty's death and aftermath (2017–present)=== Early in the morning on October 2, 2017, Petty was found unconscious in his home, not breathing, and in full cardiac arrest. Following premature media reports of his death, Petty died at the [[UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica|UCLA Medical Center]] in [[Santa Monica, California]].
