The film premiered at the [[Telluride Film Festival]]. The following year he starred as Del Montgomery in the British coming of age drama ''[[Lean on Pete]]'' (2017) directed by [[Andrew Haigh]]. The film premiered at the [[74th Venice International Film Festival]]. The performance earned him a [[BIFA for Best Supporting Actor]]. In 2017 Buscemi starred in [[Armando Iannucci]]'s [[dark comedy]] and [[satirical]] film ''[[The Death of Stalin]]''. Buscemi portrayed [[Nikita Khrushchev]].
