For the year 2020, statistics published by the [[Utah Department of Public Safety]]'s Bureau of Criminal Identification showed South Jordan had a total of 60 police officers for a rate of .75 officers per 1,000 residents.  City police made a total of 998 arrests, up from 910 in 2010.  Total crimes reported were 3,338, up from 2,096 crimes in 2010.  Total crimes contain categories that include everything from murder, rape and assault to disorderly conduct and DUI.
