After the World Cup, in the same year against Pakistan at [[Sharjah Cricket Stadium|Sharjah]], Indian captain [[Mohammed Azharuddin]] was going through a lean patch. Tendulkar and [[Navjot Singh Sidhu]] both made centuries to set a then record partnership for the second wicket.
