====Historic Rocky Mount Mills Village====

Situated near the Tar River, the [[Rocky Mount Mills Village Historic District|Rocky Mount Mills Village]] grew in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a small community of tenants working for the mill. Changes in industrialization eventually forced the closing of the mill. The workers had to find other housing. However, when the mill closed, the property remained intact.
