== Navigation == The Aire is navigable upstream to Leeds and downstream has a navigable section into the [[Aire and Calder Navigation|Aire & Calder Navigation]], with navigable access to other canals and waterways. Crown Point in Leeds is listed as the furthest west that can be reached by boat, though the limit is a headroom of {{convert|3.62|m|ftin|order=flip}}.<ref>{{cite web|url = https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/media/library/1059.pdf|title = Canal & River Trust β Aire & Calder Canal}}</ref> The weir that straddles Crown Point is a listed structure that was constructed in medieval times and first documented in 1636.<ref>{{NHLE|num=1375063|desc=Leeds dam on River Aire|access-date=15 November 2016}}</ref> Canoeing and rowing are popular sports on the river with two clubs (the Bradford and Bingley Canoe Club and the [[Bradford Amateur Rowing Club]]) having landings on the river. Canoeing can be carried out on most parts of the river, with the two clubs having navigable sections protected by weirs next to their landings.<ref>{{cite news|last1=White|first1=Clive|title=Bingley canoeists are going for gold|url=http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/7987770.Bingley_canoeists_are_going_for_gold/|access-date=15 November 2016|work=Telegraph & Argus|date=7 April 2010}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|title=Home|url=http://www.bradfordrowing.co.uk/|website=Bradford Amateur Rowing Club|access-date=15 November 2016}}</ref>
