In May 2008, Piney Point Village residents voiced opposition after the city proceeded to purchase a $1.5 million [[U.S. dollar]], 12-room mansion at 230 Blalock Road to serve as city hall with six staffed employees. The residents believed that the city government's manner of purchasing and the lack of notification of area residents was not ethical.
