Students attend middle school in Pierson and high school in Kingsley.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/schoolsearch/school_list.asp?Search=1&DistrictID=1915750 |title=Kingsley-Pierson Community School District |website=National Center for Education Statistics |access-date=September 27, 2021}}</ref> The Pierson Public Library had its beginnings in 1902 when 26 members formed a "Literary and Reading Club." Their reading room was in a store's basement until the group lost interest. A library association was started in December 1912, and the library was located inside the town hall. The Iowa State Traveling Library gave books to the library during that time. In February 1935, a library was started by The Pierson Federated Women's Club. In 1951, a county library was organized, and the women's club gave their Pierson library to Woodbury County. Organizations within Pierson are the Pierson Library Friends, 4-H, Rutland Masonic Lodge, Federated Women's Club, Legion, Legion Auxiliary, Junior Girls Auxiliary, and the Golf Club Association.<ref name="Sioux"/> Pierson's only cemetery is Greenwood Cemetery.<ref>{{cite book |date=1993 |title=Greenwood Cemetery: Rutland Twp., Pierson, Woodbury Co., Iowa |publisher=Woodbury County Genealogical Society |page=1}}</ref> It was founded in 1904, although a few burials happened in the area in 1903. It is located a mile away from Pierson on D31 or Minnesota Avenue.<ref name="Web"/>
