[[J. R. R. Tolkien]], invited to investigate the Latin inscription at Lydney Park, traced Nodens to the Irish hero ''[[Nuada Airgetlám]]'', "Nuada of the Silver-Hand".<ref name="Tolkien">[[J. R. R.
