Nevertheless, due to Murcia's large municipal territory, its population density (547 inhabitants/km<sup>2</sup>, 760 hab./sq.mi.) does not likewise rank among Spain's highest.<ref name=":7" /><ref name=":8" /> According to the official population data of the [[Instituto Nacional de Estadística (Spain)|INE]], 13.2% of the population of the municipality reported belonging to a foreign nationality – 3.19% from other countries of Europe, 4,71% Africans, 4,13% Americans and 0.62% Asians {{as of|2024|lc=y}}.<ref>{{cite web |title=CREM – Datos Municipales Murcia – 5.
