Luhrmann had intended to incorporate songs by [[The Rolling Stones]] and [[Cat Stevens]] into the film, but could not obtain the necessary rights from these artists. When Stevens denied consent for the use of "[[Father and Son (song)|Father and Son]]" due to religious objections to the film's content, "[[Nature Boy (song)|Nature Boy]]" was chosen as its replacement.<ref name="AFI" />
