Founded in 1144 by the Comte de Toulouse, the town of Montauban has some particularities: its center's red brick streets intersect at right angles and meet at the National Square (Place Nationale) which is ranked among the most beautiful squares of France.  Some buildings and architectural complexes are distinguished, such as "le [[Musée Ingres]]", "la Place Nationale", "le Pont vieux", "L’église Saint Jacques", "[[Montauban Cathedral|la Cathédrale Notre Dame]]", «  l’Ancien Collège des Jésuites », « le Muséum ».
