====Graham Hill's era====

[[United Kingdom|Britain's]] [[Graham Hill]] won the race five times in the 1960s and became known as "King of Monaco"<ref name="kingmonaco">''The Complete Encyclopedia of Formula One'', p. 262, line 10, Carlton Books Ltd. {{ISBN|1-85868-515-X}}.</ref> and "Mr. Monaco". He first won in 1963, and then won the next two years.<ref name = "GP.com" /> In the [[1965 Monaco Grand Prix|1965 race]], he took pole position and led from the start, but went up an escape road on lap&nbsp;25 to avoid hitting a slow backmarker.
