Matawan is the northern terminus of the middle segment of the [[Henry Hudson Trail]], and the western terminus of the eastern section.<ref>[http://www.monmouthcountyparks.com/page.aspx?Id=2525 Henry Hudson Trail], Monmouth County Park System. Accessed November 19, 2011.</ref> Views of Lake Matawan are visible on the northern end along Main Street and Broad Street by Memorial Park, as well as on the southern end on the Little Street bridge, while the rest of it is bordered by houses or trees.
