==Education== Guymon residents are served by the Guymon School District. The school system was begun in 1902β3. The first high school building was built in 1917. Guymon schools were closed for one year during the Great Depression because funds were insufficient to keep them operating. The school district opened a new high school in 1954. This was replaced with a new facility in 1974.<ref name="EOHC-Guymon"/> The city has eight elementary schools, one junior high school, and one high school, whose team mascot is the Tiger.<ref>{{cite web|url= http://www.guymontigers.com/default.htm|title= Guymon Public Schools District Home|access-date= 2008-04-23|publisher= Guymon Public Schools District|url-status= dead|archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20080509074229/http://www.guymontigers.com/default.htm|archive-date= 2008-05-09}}</ref> ;High school * Guymon High School ;Middle school * Guymon Junior High School ;Elementary schools * Academy * Academy "C" * Carrier * Homer Long * Northeast * North Park * Prairie More than 80% of high school students qualify for a reduced-price school lunch, a common proxy for poverty.<ref>{{cite web|title=Guymon High School|url=https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/schoolsearch/school_detail.asp?Search=1&Miles=10&Zip=73942&ID=401359000639|website=National Center for Educational Statistics|publisher=US Department of Education|access-date=7 March 2018}}</ref> About 30% of residents lack a high school diploma; the city has the lowest educational level in the state.<ref>{{cite web|title=Educational Attainment by Place in Oklahoma|url=https://statisticalatlas.com/state/Oklahoma/Educational-Attainment|publisher=Statistical Atlas|access-date=7 March 2018}}</ref> Guymon High School lags behind the state average in several measures. {| class="wikitable" |- !
