Keillor has been called "[o]ne of the most perceptive and witty commentators about Midwestern life" by [[Randall Balmer]] in ''Encyclopedia of Evangelicalism.''<ref>Randall Balmer: ''Encyclopedia of Evangelicalism''. The column went on hiatus in April 2010 so that he could "finish a screenplay and start writing a novel."
