The army was deployed to former [[Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia|Yugoslavia]] in 1992. Initially part of the [[United Nations Protection Force]],<ref>{{harvnb|Mallinson|2009|p=446}}</ref> in 1995 its command was transferred to the [[Implementation Force]] (IFOR) and then to the [[Stabilisation Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina]] (SFOR);<ref>{{harvnb|Mallinson|2009|p=447}}</ref> the commitment rose to over 10,000 troops.
