==Places of interest==
The main village is Castlebay (''{{lang|gd|Bàgh a' Chaisteil}}'') in a sheltered bay, where [[Kisimul Castle]] sits on a small [[islet]] not far from shore; giving the village its name. This is the main harbour.

The highest elevation on the island is [[Heaval]], near the top of which is a prominent white marble statue of the [[Mother of Christ|Madonna and Child]], called "Our Lady of the Sea", which was erected during the [[Marian year]] of 1954.
