Burlington, Vermont's largest city, hosts the annual Vermont International Film Festival, which presents ten days in October of independent films.<ref>

Brattleboro also hosts the summertime [[Strolling of the Heifers]] parade which celebrates Vermont's dairy culture. The rate of volunteerism in Vermont was eighth in the nation with 37% in 2007.
