Hasbro conducts a worldwide ''Monopoly'' tournament. The first ''Monopoly'' World Championships took place in [[Grossinger's Resort]] in New York, in November 1973, but they did not include competitors from outside the United States until 1975. It has been aired in the United States by [[ESPN360|ESPN]]. In 2009, forty-one players competed for the title of ''Monopoly'' World Champion and a cash prize of $20,580 (USD)—the total amount of Monopoly money in the current Monopoly set used in the tournament.<ref name="Tostado, Kevin 2010" /> The most recent World Championship took place September 2015 in [[Macau]].
