The [[BBC]]  produced  dramatisations of all seven novels starting in the late 1980s and running into the 90s starring [[Maurice Denham]] as Professor Kirke. They were Originally broadcast on [[BBC Radio 4]] In the UK.  BBC Audiobooks released both audio cassette and compact disc versions of the series.{{citation needed|date=July 2022}}

Accompanied by an original orchestral score and cinema-quality [[Digital audio|digital sound]] design, the series was hosted by Lewis's stepson Douglas Gresham and ran for just over 22 hours. Recordings of the entire adaptation were released on compact disc between 1999 and 2003.{{citation needed|date=May 2019}}
