===Vowels===
Xhosa has an inventory of ten vowels: {{IPA|[a]}}, {{IPA|[ɛ~e]}}, {{IPA|[i]}}, {{IPA|[ɔ~o]}} and {{IPA|[u]}} written ''a'', ''e'', ''i'', ''o'' and ''u'' in order, all occurring in both [[Long vowel|long]] and [[Short vowel|short]].
