Glasgow University Library is situated on Hillhead Street opposite the Main Building. The current 12-storey building was opened in 1968 and hosts approximately 2.5 million books and journals, and provides electronic resources, including over 50,000 electronic journals. The [[Archives of the University of Glasgow]] maintains the historical records of the university, created and accumulated since its foundation in 1451.
