===Bobby Locke, Peter Thomson, and Ben Hogan's Triple Crown (1946β1958)=== The Open returned after the [[Second World War]] to St Andrews, with a victory for American [[Sam Snead]]. [[Bobby Locke]] became the first South African winner, winning three times in four years between 1949 and 1952, and later winning a fourth title in 1957.
