Other contributors to the screenplay included [[Arthur Kober]], [[Dorothy Parker]] and [[Alan Campbell (screenwriter)|Alan Campbell]]. The touring production of ''The Little Foxes'' went on hiatus for three months during filming, and Patricia Collinge, Charles Dingle, Dan Duryea, John Marriott and Carl Benton Reid all reprised their stage roles in their motion picture debuts.
