===Hiatus and sporadic output (2011β2020)=== Gellar took a two-year hiatus from acting following the birth of her daughter in 2009, and in 2011, she signed to star and work as executive producer for The CW's Ringer, in which she played the dual role of twin sisters, one of whom is on the run and manages to hide by assuming the wealthy life of the other. Gellar has stated that part of her decision to return to television was because it allowed her to both work and raise her family. Despite a large fan base, the series received mixed reviews,<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.eonline.com/news/261872/fall-tv-preview-is-sarah-michelle-gellar-s-new-show-ringer-any-good |title=Fall TV Preview: Is Sarah Michelle Gellar's New Show Ringer Any Good?
