=== 2020 controversial elections === In October 2020, president Alpha Condé won [[2020 Guinean presidential election|presidential elections]]. Condé had been in power since 2010 and he won the third term. Opposition did not accept the results because of allegations of fraud. The president said a [[2020 Guinean constitutional referendum|constitutional referendum]] in March 2020 allowed him to run despite a two-term limit.
