===Opposition's rise to power===

In the run-up to the [[2024 Botswana general election]], the opposition was splintered, therefore it was thought that BDP would cruise to a comfortable victory again. Despite this division, opposition UDC was able to gain an outright majority of seats in the parliament and [[Duma Boko]] was elected to the Presidency.
