===Central departments===

The head office building of the PBC, on [[West Chang'an Avenue]], was constructed in 1987–1990 on a design by a team of architects led by Zhou Ru.{{R|Yu|p=49}} While its materials are modern, its shape refers to two traditional Chinese motifs, namely [[Sycee|yuanbao]] ingots and "wealth vases" ({{lang-zh|Jùbǎopén}}) from Chinese folklore.{{R|Yu|p=176}}
