==LDS Chapel 2024 New Year's Eve carbon monoxide poisoning== Over 50 Latter-Day Saint churchgoers were reported to be sickened from carbon monoxide poisoning at the LDS Monroe East chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in [[Sevier County, Utah]], on December 31, 2023, New Year's Eve, as reported by the Sevier County Sheriff’s office. The sheriff reported they were transported to a local hospital for treatment. It was determined that the heating system malfunctioned, causing a release of carbon monoxide into the chapel, where services were being held. Carbon monoxide poisoning at the Monroe Latter-day Saint chapel in Utah led to 22 hospitalizations on Sunday, and 54 people experienced symptoms of poisoning, and 49 were treated. <ref name="The Salt Lake Tribune 2024 u717">{{cite web | title=Nearly 50 people treated for carbon monoxide poisoning after leak in LDS meetinghouse | website=The Salt Lake Tribune | date=2024-01-02 | url=https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2024/01/01/nearly-50-people-treated-carbon/ | access-date=2024-01-02}}</ref><ref name="Ingram 2024 i953">{{cite web | last=Ingram | first=Aleah | title=Carbon Monoxide Poisoning at LDS Chapel Leads to Hospitalizations | website=LDS Daily | date=2024-01-02 | url=https://www.ldsdaily.com/world/carbon-monoxide-poisoning-at-lds-chapel-leads-to-hospitalizations/ | access-date=2024-01-02}}</ref><ref name="WFMZ.com 2024 f703">{{cite web | title=UT: 40+ TREATED AFTER CO LEAK AT LDS CHURCH BLDG | website=WFMZ.com | date=2024-01-02 | url=https://www.wfmz.com/news/cnn/us-national/ut-40-treated-after-co-leak-at-lds-church-bldg/video_b3dab923-4750-5afa-9a94-10b1e79b7009.html | access-date=2024-01-02}}</ref> The local fire department checked the building for carbon monoxide, and high levels were discovered and the building was evacuated. Members who re-entered the building continued to experience poisoning symptoms and were transported for medical care. 22 individuals required hospitalization and 10 ambulance transports were required to evacuate victims to a local hospital that had a hyperbaric chamber that could treat the patients. The church made a public statement that the building would be checked and the heating system repaired. <ref name="Tencer Burt 2024 i346">{{cite web | last=Tencer | first=Emily | last2=Burt | first2=Spencer | title=40+ people treated for carbon monoxide poisoning after leak in Latter-day Saint meetinghouse | website=FOX 13 News Utah (KSTU) | date=2024-01-02 | url=https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/20-people-hospitalized-from-carbon-monoxide-in-lds-church | access-date=2024-01-02}}</ref>
