The [[Lesotho Defence Force]] (LDF) is charged with the maintenance of internal security and the defence of Lesotho. LMPS provides uniformed policing, criminal detection, and traffic policing. There are specialist units dealing with high-tech crime, immigration, wildlife, and terrorism. The force has existed, with changes of name, continuously since 1872.

The [[Lesotho National Security Service]] (LNSS) is charged with the protection of national security.
