== Distribution and habitat == The king cobra has a wide distribution throughout [[tropical Asia]]. These populations have sometimes been thought to be the result of [[Introduced species|introduction]] by [[snake charmer]]s or transport along rivers, but are now more likely considered natural populations. However, it remains uncertain if any populations continue to persist there.<ref name=Das2024/>
