==Personal life==

Swan died in 1914 at his home in Overhill, [[Warlingham]], Surrey.<ref name="timesobit" /> The funeral took place at All Saints' Church, Warlingham, on 30 May 1914, with interment taking place in the churchyard.<ref>{{Cite news|author=<!--Staff writer(s); no by-line.-->|date=1 June 1914 |title=The Late Sir Joseph W.
