The [[SS Vega (1913)|''SS Vega'']] was sent to the island carrying [[Red Cross]] supplies and news of the success of the Allied advance in Europe. After Liberation, the States was reformed, becoming wholly democratically elected, and [[Universal suffrage|universal franchise]] was implemented.
