ISO standards for containers were published between 1968 and 1970 by the International Maritime Organization. The International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) is a 1972 regulation by the [[International Maritime Organization|Inter-governmental Maritime Consultative Organization]] on the safe handling and transport of containers.
