Other accounts tell similar stories, with variations. According to the Greek mythographer [[Bibliotheca (Pseudo-Apollodorus)|Apollodorus]] (first or second century AD), the women of Lemnos were rejected by their husbands because Aphrodite had caused them to emit a foul odor.
