==Awards, honours and appointments== In 2002, he was appointed [[Officer of the Order of the British Empire]] (OBE). In October 2008, Suchet was awarded an honorary degree for his contributions to the Arts, from the [[University of Chichester]]. This was presented by the Vice-Chancellor at the [[Chichester Festival Theatre]]. On 7 January 2009, he was awarded [[Freedom of the City]] of London, at the [[Guildhall]] in London. In July 2010, David Suchet was awarded an honorary degree from the [[University of Kent]] at [[Canterbury Cathedral]] in Canterbury.<ref>{{cite
