By 1860, two [[Methodist Episcopal Church|Methodist Episcopal churches]] had been built nearby. In 1880, seven churches, which were predominantly [[Methodist]], had been established in Delta County. In 1889, seven [[Baptist]] churches that had been established in the region held a meeting as the Delta County Baptist Association.
