===Relations with Tipu Sultan===
In 1789, [[Tipu Sultan]], ruler of the [[Sultanate of Mysore]] sent an embassy to Abdul Hamid, urgently requesting assistance against the [[British East India Company]], and proposed an offensive and defensive alliance.
