* The [[Ming dynasty]] Chinese navy captures two Western ships with [[Portuguese Empire|Portuguese]] [[Breech-loading weapon|breech–loading]] [[culverin]]s aboard, which the Chinese call a ''fo–lang–ji'' (Frankish culverin).
