The municipality is [[Twin towns and sister cities|twinned]] with two Italian municipalities, [[Piombino]] in 1971 and [[Basiliano]] in 2017.

The twinning with Piombino was initiated by a Piombinese who moved to Flémalle. The project was accepted by the mayor at the time, [[André Cools]]. The twinning charter was signed on 7 December 2017.<ref name=":8" />
