Stoke Park is a large park on the edge of the town centre, with sports facilities and play areas. It was donated to the town in 1925 by Lord Onslow.<ref>{{harvnb|Chamberlin|1982|pp=29–30}}</ref>

===Allen House Grounds===
Allen House, to the north of the Upper High Street, was built in the 17th century and took its name from Anthony Allen, who owned the property in the early 18th century.<ref name=Chamberlin_1982_pp206-210>{{harvnb|Chamberlin|1982|pp=206–210}}</ref><ref name=AllenHouse_GFA>{{cite web |title= Allen House Grounds |url= https://www.greenflagaward.org/park-summary/?park=1252 |publisher= Green Flag Award |access-date= 21 August 2022 |archive-date= 21 August 2022 |archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20220821125725/https://www.greenflagaward.org/park-summary/?park=1252 |url-status= live }}</ref> The house and its grounds were given to the Royal Grammar School in 1914<ref name=Corke_1990_charity>{{harvnb|Corke|1990|loc=Chapter: Excellent gifts of charity}}</ref> and the site was used to train local volunteer soldiers during the First World War.<ref>{{harvnb|Alexander|1980|p=44}}</ref> The building was used as a teaching annex by the school until 1964, when it was demolished to make way for a new classroom complex.<ref name=Chamberlin_1982_pp206-210/><ref>{{harvnb|Collyer|Rose|1998|p=72}}</ref> The rest of the site was purchased by the borough council and is known today as the Allen House Grounds. Pewley Down, located on a hill southeast of the town centre, is a [[Local Nature Reserve]] owned and managed by the borough council.
