The park covers a total area of about 10 square kilometers, with land and water landscapes accounting for half of the total area. As the venue for the sixth China International Garden and Flower Exposition, the park enjoys a natural and environmentally-friendly layout.{{citation needed|date=September 2019}} It consists of nine islands and various gardens with different styles. It serves as a venue for horticultural exhibitions, tourism, recreational activities, and educational activities for the public.
