===School to prison pipeline=== The [[school-to-prison pipeline]] (SPP) is the disproportionate tendency of minors and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to become incarcerated, because of increasingly harsh school and municipal policies which mirror law enforcement methods. This inhibits many of these young adults from going to college.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.aclu.org/issues/juvenile-justice/school-prison-pipeline|title=School-to-Prison Pipeline|website=American Civil Liberties Union}}</ref><ref name="Wald Losen 2003 pp. 9β15">{{cite journal|last1=Wald|first1=Johanna|last2=Losen|first2=Daniel J.|title=Defining and redirecting a school-to-prison pipeline|journal=New Directions for Youth Development|publisher=Wiley|volume=2003|issue=99|year=2003|issn=1533-8916|doi=10.1002/yd.51|pages=9β15|pmid=14635431}}</ref><ref name="Kim 2010 p.">{{cite book|last=Kim|first=Catherine|title=The school-to-prison pipeline: structuring legal reform|publisher=New York University Press|publication-place=New York|year=2010|isbn=978-0-8147-4844-2|oclc=682614132|page=}}</ref>
