* [[Bernard Herrmann]]'s score for ''[[Little Girl Lost (The Twilight Zone)|Little Girl Lost]]'' a ''[[The Twilight Zone (1959 TV series)|Twilight Zone]]'' (1962) television episode makes beautiful use of the viola d'amore to set a mood. [[Virginia Majewski]] performs most evocatively.
* [[James Newton Howard]]'s score for ''[[After Earth]]'' (2013) uses a quartet of violas d'amore to provide eerie  soundscapes, performed by Pamela Goldsmith, Roland Kato, Jennie Hansen and Adriana Zoppo.
